letter of introduction

Julie Nowak
Principal
Conant High School
1100 Higgins Rd
Conant Estates, IL 60169

Dear Ms. Nowak.

I am writing with the hopes to reintegrate part time to Conant High school in the fall. I was placed at Academy-North when I moved in from Elgin High School, I struggled with going to school on time, going to class, talking appropriately, treating others with respect, and doing my work. I was frequently a target of bullying by other students, and I felt tremendously frustrated that they were either unable or unwilling to support me. I recognize now that I did not handle my behavior as well as I could have and because of my behavior, I was placed in an alternative school.
While at Academy-North, I have finally felt that I can be myself- funny, relaxed and charming. Even though I am sometimes still targeted at Academy-North, I have learned to rely on my close friends and teachers for support and to help me deal with my irritation. I’m so glad that I've changed, but I will continue to work my hardest on controlling my anger, attending class, and staying focused on my future..
It would mean a lot to me and my family if I were to be able to attend CHS. I miss my brother, who attends Conant, very much. It has almost been a year since we’ve lived together, and I’m very anxious to be there for him, to give him my constant love and support. Also, Conant has opportunities, like drama club, that Academy-North does not.  If permitted to reintegrate, I promise I will conduct myself in a way that will bring pride to my family, my peers, and the school. I Thank you for your consideration and your time, and if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me or talk to me directly at school.

Sincerely,

Quenton Shears

end of the year reflection

When I came to Academy-North in the fall, I was having a hard time dealing with having been placed in an alternative school. I found myself having to attend a school that was very far from Elgin, which I loved and where I had developed close relationships. I anticipated that I would not like I thought that Some of the behaviors I witnessed at Academy-North really irritated- I found it really frustrating that some students would behave so childishly.
